The Procedure
The procedure will be tailored to each individual, as each person’s reason for revision will be different. The procedure will start with anesthesia, and the removal of the current implants. From there:
- The implant pocket can be adjusted
- Implants can be changed (either type or size)
- Capsular contracture will be resolved
- A breast lift can be performed to treat breasts that now appear lower on the chest wall
After your breast augmentation revision surgery, you will be required to wear a compression garment or supportive bra to help the area to heal after surgery. Plan to have someone take you home and stay with you for the first few days, as you will need to rest.
What Should I Expect During the Recovery Period?
The recovery period should be similar to the recovery period of the original procedure if the breast implant revision only involved the removal of or changing of the implants. If a breast lift was performed, then the recovery period is approximately six weeks. You may feel tender, bruised, or swollen in the treatment area for the first few weeks after the revision.
