What Is Otoplasty?
Otoplasty, or ear surgery, is the only cosmetic surgical procedure commonly performed on young children, since ears reach their full growth by approximately six years of age, making correction possible from that point onward. The procedure reshapes or repositions the cartilage of the ear to correct protrusion, asymmetry, or other structural concerns, creating ears that sit closer to the head and appear more proportionate to the rest of the face. While more common in children, adults frequently pursue otoplasty as well, particularly men who can't easily conceal protruding ears with longer hairstyles.
